      • Apple's animation and movie file format
      • works on any platform

      • Developed by Moving Picture Experts Group who create standards fro interactive animation an video
      • Standard family used for coding audio-visual information in digital compressed format.
      • MPEG tend to be much smaller and much higher quality for the size.
      • uses sophisticated compression techniques
      • H.264/AVC - leading compression techniques for Web video
    • Audio Video Interleave (AVI)
      • Microsoft's animation and movie file format for Windows.
      • Adequate quality
      • not as cross platform compatible as other
    • MNG
      • Stands for Multiple Image Network Graphics
      • Similar to an animated GIF; stores multiple images that are streamed for quick download and payback.
      • Advantages over animated GIF
        • Supports multiple levels of transparency
        • Platform independent color correction
        • Better compression
