Installing Perl on your PC

These directions will help you install Perl on your PC running Vista Business.

Install Active State Perl

  1. Go to the http://www.activestate.com/activeperl/ website.
  2. Active State Perl

  3. Click onInstall Image

  5. Click on Run
  6. You may get this message:

    Click on Run

  8. It will take a few minutes to install the temporary files
  9. When is has finished downloading, you will see the welcome screen.

  11. Click on Next

  13. Accept the terms and click on Next
  14. photo

  15. Make sure the ActivePerl level is highlighted and click on Next
  16. photo

  17. Make sure the top two options are checked and click on Next

  19. Click on Install
  20. photo

  21. Click on Finish
  22. Go to you command prompt. 
    • XP then go to Start> Command Prompt
    • Vista – go to photo in the bottom left corner and Click on All Programs and click on Accessories and click on Command Prompt
  23. Type perl –v and you will see:

  25. This tells me that I have installed Perl version 5.10.1 on my PC
