Installing Perl on your PC

These directions will help you install Perl on your PC running Vista Business.

Install Active State Perl

1. Go to the http://www.activestate.com/activeperl/ website.



2. Click on

 

3. Click on Run
4. You may get this message:

 
Click on Run


5. It will take a few minutes to install the temporary files
6. When is has finished downloading, you will see the welcome screen.



7. Click on Next



8. Accept the terms and click on Next



9. Make sure the ActivePerl level is highlighted and click on Next



10. Make sure the top two options are checked and click on Next



11. Click on Install



12. Click on Finish
13. Go to you command prompt. 
    • XP then go to Start> Command Prompt
    • Vista – go to  in the bottom left corner and Click on All Programs and click on Accessories and click on Command Prompt
14. Type perl –v and you will see:



15. This tells me that I have installed Perl version 5.10.1 on my PC
