Image Halos or Artifacts
Transparent backgrounds allow the background color to show through an image. Gif and png images types allow transparent backgrounds. Sometimes a white line or halo will appear around the image making the image look amateur.
Remove the Halo
- Open the image in Photoshop CS4
- Select File > Save for Web and Devices
- Make sure the file type is gif or png; these are the only type of files that can have transparent backgrounds.
- Look for the Matte drop down and select a light color close to the color of the image but not white. The lighter colors will appear as the white background in the image.
- Save the file.
