Edit Godaddy Websites
These steps will explain how you can edit your website that is hosted by godaddy.com.
- First you will need to know which page on your website you wish to change. Go to your website and find the page you wish to edit.
- Look in the web address or URL field at the top of your browser. For example: This tells me that I am looking at the
- domain name: asafercompany.com
- in the folder: newbusiness
- at the file: index.html
- The file I want to change for this example will be in the newbusiness folder and the file name is index.html.
- Once you know the file and the location you can go to godaddy.com.
Note: You must have the username / Customer # and Password. - Enter your username/Customer # and Password.
- Click on Hosting in the left side menu.
- Select Manage Account in the middle of the screen.
- Click on Content.
- Click on File Manager.
- You will see list of folders and files on your website.
- Select the file you wish to change and then select the edit icon at the top of the menu bar.
- You may not see the images but you can change the text of the web page.
- Notes:
- Similar files should be grouped together in folders.
For example, you might have the following folders:- images - This folder would contain the Images, photos, .jpg, .gif, should be stored in a images folder.
- sound - This folder would contain the audio files like mp3 files.
- Files should be given meaningful names. For example: Instead of using the file name a camera gives a file like DSC_00451.JPG you should name it something meaningful. For example: logo.jpg or aboutus.jpg
- Similar files should be grouped together in folders.
- When you have completed your changes, make sure you save your file by clicking on the save icon in your Edit menu bar.
- When you finish changing the file, click on the close x in the upper right corner.
