Crimson Editor
To develop HTML code, Perl scripts or PHP you will need some type of editor to use to create the code. There are many editors that can be used including the Microsoft NotePad. A Safer Company recommends the free Crimson Editor to develop your HTML or Perl code and to ftp it to your web hosting.

- Crimson Editor - A Safer Company uses this editor and we recommend it. It has a fast loading time and small size and offers many powerful features for coding HTML, C/C++, Perl and Java. It has syntax highlighting for HTML, C/C++, Perl, Java, Matlab and LaTeX, etc. It also include undo/redo, user tools, macros, spell checker and more. It also can be used to ftp the code to your web hosting.
Set Up Crimson Editor to FTP Files
- Open Crimson Editor
- Select File > FTP > FTP Settings.
- In the FTP Settings screen, select a - Empty - FTP Account and complete the following fields:
- Desciprtion - is the name of the FTP connection that will help you know where your will be connecting.
- FTP server - is the server name. For example: ftp.asafercompany.com.
- User name - is the user name that you have been given for your access.
- Password - is the password that you have been given for your access. If you are the only one who uses your computer you can check Save password.
- Subdirectory - is the location where your files will be stored.
Open Your FTP Connection
- Select File > FTP > Open Remote....
- Select Connect to see a list of the files on your web hosting.
- NOTE: If you open a file on your Remote site and make a change and save it.
