Adding and Editing Images with Dreamweaver
Adding Images with Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver is a excellent tool to use to add photographs or images to your web page. Of course you can use any text editor and type the HTML code and insert images too.
- Create a new HTML page in Dreamweaver <Ctrl> n
- Make sure that you are storing all of your photographs in the image folder
- In Dreamweaver, there are at least 3 ways to add an image to a page. Go to the position on the page where you want the image to be located. It is probably easier to be in the Design view of Dreamweaver.
- From the top menu bar, select Insert > Image and go to the folder and file of your image.
- Make sure that you include the alt text for screen readers.
Editing Images in Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver CS4 and above have a tool for editing images.
- Make a backup copy of your image before you edit in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver will actually resize and crop the image. So if you get it too small you cannot undo.
- Once you have added the image to the web page, click on the image in Dreamweaver Design view.
- Crop
- You should see the image properties in the properties panel at the
bottom
of the screen
- Select the Crop icon
- Drag the outline to the part of the image that you want to keep.
- When you finish, make sure that you click on the crop icon again to actually crop the image.
- You should see the image properties in the properties panel at the
bottom
of the screen
- Resize
- Select the image
- You will see the image properties in the properties panel at the bottom of the screen
- Select the Edit Image icon
- You will see the Image Preview screen
- Select the File tab
- Make sure that Constrain is checked.
- Change the image size by a percentage or width or height.
- Select OK at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
- If the image does not look differently, you probably did not click OK, Go through the resize process again.
