FTP Access for Internet Explorer 7
FTP allow you to upload files to your web hosting server so these files can be shared. It is usually a quicker way to ftp files than try to email them to your webmaster.
FTP can be accessed through Internet Explorer. These directions are for IE 7.
- Make sure you know the following:
- Your domain name. For example: asafercompany.com
- Your username
- Your password.
- Internet Explorer 7 has more steps than Internet Explorer (IE6.) If you are using IE 6 skip to the next step.
- Open Internet Explorer 7 and enter ftp://domain.com in the address. The following error message will appear.
- Go to the Page button on the right side menu and click on Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.
- You will see a new window open.
- Go to Step 6.
- Go to Internet Explorer and enter ftp://yourdomainname/ in the Address.
- You will get the following error message:
- Click OK.
- Go to File>Login As...
- You will see the Log On As Screen.
- Enter your User Name and password.
- You will see a list of folders and files.
- Click on public_ftp and store your files in this folder. It is a good idea to give your files meaningful names to help identify them for later use.
