FTP Access for Internet Explorer 7

FTP allow you to upload files to your web hosting server so these files can be shared. It is usually a quicker way to ftp files than try to email them to your webmaster.

FTP can be accessed through Internet Explorer. These directions are for IE 7.

Make sure you know the following:

Your domain name. For example: asafercompany.com
Your username
Your password.

Internet Explorer 7 has more steps than Internet Explorer (IE6.) If you are using IE 6 skip to the next step.

Open Internet Explorer 7 and enter ftp://domain.com in the address. The following error message will appear.
Go to the Page button on the right side menu and click on Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.
You will see a new window open.

Go to Step 6.

Go to Internet Explorer and enter ftp://yourdomainname/ in the Address.
You will get the following error message:
Click OK.
Go to File>Login As...
You will see the Log On As Screen.
Enter your User Name and password.
You will see a list of folders and files.
Click on public_ftp and store your files in this folder. It is a good idea to give your files meaningful names to help identify them for later use.
